Prisons officer allegedly inflicts wounds on herdsman at Ejura-Nkwanta

A senior official of the Ghana Prison Service is accused of using a sharp weapon to attack a 45-year-old man at Ejura-Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region's Ejura-Sekyeredumasi Municipality.

According to reports, Abdullai Yaro was assaulted by the police after the victim allowed his livestock to ruin his corn farm.

Residents of Illiasu Abdul Rauf Dabre told Adom News that the officer does not have a farm close to where the cattle were grazing.

Deep cuts can be seen on the victim's entire body, including his skull, which is currently being treated at St. Luke Hospital.

Narrating his ordeal, the victim said the officer met him around his residence and inquired why the herdsman has brought his cattle around the area and accused him of destroying his maize farm.

Abdullai Yaro said before he could deny it, the officer spurted his face with pepper spray and attacked him.

Speaking to Adom News, the victim’s wife, Bintu Abdullai, said the incident occurred at the officer’s house where he built a room and reared livestock but not on any farm.

The victim’s wife denied allegations that her husband pulled a weapon first before the officer overpowered him.

She, therefore, appealed to government and other relevant authorities to intervene for the sake of justice.
