Ex-Black Stars goalie cautions prospective Ghana internationals in front of ethnicity switches
Previous Black Stars goalkeeper, Adam Kwarasey, has cautioned worldwide players of Ghanaian plunge to thoroughly consider their choice to change identity prior to taking the action to join the ongoing set-up.
The Norwegian-conceived Ghanaian, who settled on the choice to join the Black Stars in November 2007, says players who maintain that should do similar should be clear in their psyches about completely focusing on Ghana and not in view of the amazing chance to play in the World cup.
Following Ghana's capability to the 2022 worldwide show-stopper to the detriment of Nigeria in Abuja, a considerable rundown of unfamiliar conceived Ghanaian internationals have been promoted to make identity switches, with Brighton and Hove Albion full-back Tariq Lamptey, Athletic Club's Inaki Williams, Eddy Nketiah of Arsenal and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi answered to be on the edge.
Ghana's goalkeeper at the 2012 AFCON and 2014 World Cup made sense of for JoySports why the players exchanging ethnicity in front of the World cup in Qatar should be cautious with their decision.
"They need to come for the right explanation I'll say. I realize they presumably need to encounter the World Cup however I want to believe that they come since they need to address Ghana and not on the grounds that they were not chosen by another country. I feel that is number one - they should be there since they need to play their hearts out for Ghana. Number two is hard on the grounds that it's been some time since I have been near, so I don't actually have the foggiest idea how things are finished in camp, yet change rapidly and do your best essentially," Kwarasey said to Joy Sports.
Kwarasey made his global presentation for Ghana against Swaziland in the 2012 Afcon qualifiers and was the best option goalkeeper at the principal competition where the Black Stars completed fourth. He showed up during the Ghana 2014 world cup qualifiers and began in objective for the Black Stars in the initial loss to USA in Natal.
Adam Kwarasey
Despite issues with former Black Stars goalkeeper’s trainer and subsequently deciding to stay away from national team call-ups, Kwarasey says the experience was worth it.
“I was enjoying, to be honest, especially in the beginning. I was enjoying it because everything was new to me. I grew up here [Oslo], different culture and different football culture, dressing room culture, preparations everything was different so I had to adjust a bit which I found exciting in the beginning.
“As you grow older and get more experience, you know what you need before every game and training session. After a while — it was harder actually because that excitement goes away so you get back to normal and you need those normal things to prepare but every time I went to represent Ghana — I was excited. I really looked forward to it, lots of nice teammates.”
Adam Kwarasey retired from football in August 2020.
The current Sporting Director of FC Oslo spoke to JoySports George Addo Jnr in an exclusive interview which airs on the 5th of July 2022 on the Joynews and Joyprime channels.
