Jean-Louis Gasset - Ivory Coast name ex-Bordeaux manager as new coach

Jean-Louis Gasset left his post as Bordeaux manager toward the finish of last season
Frenchman Jean-Louis Gasset has been designated as the new mentor of Ivory Coast on an underlying year contract.

The West African nation is set to have the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in June one year from now and the 68-year-old has the choice of a further year in his arrangement.

He replaces comrade Patrice Beaumelle, whose agreement was not restored after the Elephants passed up World Cup capability and experienced a last-16 exit at the Nations Cup in Cameroon recently.

Gasset filled in as partner to Laurent Blanc when he was chief of France from 2010-12 and furthermore at Paris St-Germain. He has overseen French clubs Montpellier, Caen, Istres, Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux, who Gasset left toward the finish of last season.

Previous Ivory Coast midfielder Emerse Fae - who played for Nantes, Reading and Nice - has been named his collaborator.

The Elephants are double cross Nations Cup champions, last lifting the prize in 2015, and are participating in qualifiers for the following year's competition notwithstanding being guaranteed of a spot at the finals as hosts.

Gasset, who watched from the stands when they lost to France in an agreeable in March, will assume responsibility for his most memorable serious game on 3 June against Zambia in Yamoussoukro.

Ivory Coast will play their second Group H match away to Lesotho in Johannesburg four days
